More than 300 institutions from over 100 countries

Organised by the Ombudsman of Curaçao, with the ILO as co-host institution, IOE 2027 will bring together ombudsman offices, institutions for the protection and promotion of human rights, autonomous bodies and institutions engaged in oversight and governance. Their shared purpose: to exchange working and operational experience, share good practices and assess the concrete impact of each institution’s work for the benefit of the public.

A space to meet and build alliances

From Latin America and the Caribbean, IOE 2027 sets out to be a global meeting ground for the members of autonomous institutions —in all their diversity and under their various names—, for the associations that bring them together, and for the academic and professional networks that sustain a culture of human rights. At a time of profound change, the defence of human rights and of institutional autonomy, as recognised by international legal principles, no longer rests on each institution or association alone: it increasingly calls for cooperation networks and a genuine ecosystem of mutual support.

The programme will also feature the special session “Ombudsmen for Indigenous Peoples: Celebrating Their Role and Impact”, aimed at bringing visibility to work in promoting the rights of indigenous peoples that too often goes insufficiently recognised.

We encourage you to secure your place by registering as soon as possible. Broad participation will enrich the debate and help strengthen the bonds of cooperation among the people and institutions committed to protecting and promoting human rights. We look forward to seeing you in Willemstad.
